The Golden Ticket

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite movies, both the old one and the remake. Who doesn’t love Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka, his factory, and all that candy! And, unlike most Hollywood movies, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory doesn’t depict business and free enterprise as a bad thing. In fact, (this is all in my book) Willy Wonka is a capitalist and not a villain, he’s an entrepreneur, an innovator, a hard worker, and an honest, (a little eccentric) man.  And, his Golden Tickets offer incredible opportunities for anybody who finds one.

America now has its own Golden Ticket. It’s the Mitt Romney - Paul Ryan ticket. It gives Americans a chance to be the best we can be. We can work hard and earn our success. We can be entreprenuers, capitalists, or whatever we want. This ticket represents free market values. It’s guarantees Equal Opporunity, not Equal Outcome for all Americans.

The Romney-Ryan ticket may not come with everlasting bubble gum, but what it does offer is the chance for a lot more sweet success for future generations. I’ll take that instead of the gum, I’ve got braces anyway.

P.S. Here’s what Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan wrote about my book in May 2011: “This book will help renew your faith in free markets, restore the commonsense value of fiscal responsibility, and pass these principles on the future generations of Americans at a time when they are needed most.”
